We produce breakthrough humanitarian outreach programming in high-definition video.

Our video documentaries are dedicated to building awareness about today’s global emergencies, telling the stories of the children, families, communities and relief organizations that work every day to repair the causes of poverty and discrimination.

We provide cutting edge programs that connect aid organizations with the individuals who want to help, through time, money and expertise.

Why we are in existence

Television productions are enormously expensive especially in tropical Africa, in war zones and with High Definition cameras. NGOs try to spend as little as 8% of each dollar on administration, which makes film production out of the question for most. NGOs also don't want to be put in the uncomfortable position of advocating for themselves.

Enter Video Action Aid. As network caliber journalists we travel to the most important hot spots on the globe. We choose several NGOs to focus on, taking a very careful look at what their mission is and how they accomplish it. We also try to lay out the basic political story in enough depth for viewers to gain a good basic understanding. The film is done in complete cooperation with the NGO and all scripts are reviewed to be certain that we follow our key principle…"first do no harm."

In many political situations such as Darfur, NGO workers are at risk every day from over a dozen different factions. While we would love to undertake the advocacy of our inspired colleagues, we make a trade off. The trade off is that we are given incredible access, but we agree not to inflame political passions in our story telling. Once the production is complete we help with distribution.

Our latest production, Emergency in Darfur, has over 217,000 viewers on YouTube, premieres on September 25th in High Def during prime time on HDNet and on Plum. We'll keep you up to date on further distribution.
